A trip to the Royal Opera House

On Friday 24th May a group of students and staff from Mayesbrook Park Campus were lucky enough to visit the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, to attend a performance of Puccini’s timeless opera, ‘Tosca’.

The tickets were generously funded by the Taylor Family Foundation and offered our students a fabulous cultural opportunity. It was a beautiful day so we were able to walk along the river Thames and spot some of London’s landmarks on the way to the Opera House. We had fabulous seats, a few rows behind the full orchestra, to appreciate the power of the music and dramatic performances. Although set in Rome in 1800 the story included themes that the students could relate to; an intense tale of love, power and loss. We all felt moved by the passion and tragedy during the three acts which ensured that students were positively engaged throughout.
